There’s something about summer and cars that turns grown adults into 17-year-olds again.
Roof down. Music up. Pointless detours. Petrol station stops that somehow take 40 minutes. Somebody’s car develops a noise. Somebody says “it’ll be fine”. And nobody really knows where we’re going.
VW NEW BEETLE CABRIOLET -
Everyone talks about the MX-5. The MG TF gets its shout too.
We chose the Beetle.
Not because it’s faster. It isn’t.
Not because it handles better. It doesn’t.
We chose it because summer cars aren’t supposed to make sense.
Roof down. Weird shape. Zero urgency. Maximum character.
It turns an ordinary drive into something you actually remember.
FAST IS OPTIONAL MEMORIES AREN'T
The best drive isn’t always the one with the best car. It’s the one you’re still talking about years later.
If the sun’s out, the roof comes down.
No destination required.
No sensible reason required.
No horsepower requirement.
If you arrive smiling, you bought the right car.
THE NORMAL VERSION CAN BECOME RARER THAN THE HERO.
Enthusiasts save the fast one. Collectors save the special edition. That often leaves the ordinary trim disappearing first.
Years later, the performance version can be easier to find at a show than the normal one everybody actually remembers seeing every day.
One of those cars that makes you stop and think… when did I last see one? Not rare because everyone wanted one BUT rare because most people forgot about them. inclusive, and built on genuine passion for all things automotive.
RUSTY KEYS TEASER- Next week: something once common enough to ignore, now weird enough to miss.

Somebody looked at a crossover and thought the missing ingredient was less roof. We respect the commitment to chaos.

Massive doors. Weird glasshouse. MPV proportions with coupé ambitions. Renault clearly had a meeting where nobody said “no”.
WHY DOES THIS EXIST?
Because normal cars were apparently too easy.
So that is what we're building next. Don't change it.
WEIRD-O-METER
Avantime: 9/10. Gloriously unnecessary.
Murano CrossCabriolet: 10/10. Absolutely nobody asked.
£1,800 AUDI 80 — GOOD CAR, BAD AD?
Proper 90s Audi. 2.0 petrol, MOT, receipts, spares and apparently no rust underneath.
Sounds promising.
📸 BUT WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS?
Nearly £2k for a 31-year-old car and we're barely shown it.
No interior. No engine bay. No underside. No close-ups of the bodywork that's supposedly been prepped for paint.
The description isn't actually bad — the photos are letting it down.
AD-VICE: 5.5/10 🕵️
Don't drop the price. Fix the advert first.
CARADHD RULE:
If you've written about it in the advert, photograph it.
🔐 WANT THE FULL CLUE?
Full vehicle analysis. Coming to CarClue.

Transit: not glamorous, very capable of paying the bills.

Modified Clio. Loud colour, lower stance, exactly the point.

Volvo S60. Sensible shoes, questionable intentions.

JDM INTERRUPTION because eventually, A SUPRA WAS INEVITABLE.

Honda Jazz Mk2
WOULD YOUR GRAN BUY IT?
HONDA JAZZ MK2
Easy to get into.
You can actually see out of it.
Buttons where buttons should be.
Huge inside for something so small.
Boring? Maybe.
Clever? Absolutely.

BMW E46 COUPÉ ⚔️ NISSAN SILVIA S15
SAME MONEY. WHICH KEY ARE YOU TAKING?
E46:
Rear-wheel drive. Huge knowledge base. Parts everywhere. Everyone knows what it is.
S15:
JDM rarity. More special. More attention. And you aren't passing another three before you get home.
E46 or S15?
There is no correct answer.
There will, however, be a 45-minute argument.

SENTENCED TO THE WEIGHBRIDGE
FREDDIE’S EYE REVEAL: that bubbling arch was never a repair quote - it was the clue to inspect the sill, inner arch and MOT corrosion history. Point to anyone who asked the next question.
THE SCRAP HEAP HALL OF SHAME #001: ‘Probably just a sensor.’ No scan. No diagnosis. No evidence. Straight over the weighbridge.
AUTOMOTIVE CRIME SCENE: cheap luxury can be financial murder when neglect stacks up. The Range Rover L322 is not guilty by model name alone - but a neglected complex luxury 4x4 at bargain money can turn every warning light into a funding round.
Then, because CarADHD has no attention span whatsoever… supercars.

Cheap motoring still works when the structure is honest, the mechanical story makes sense and the buyer leaves money for old-car things to behave like old-car things.
Freddie’s found something he doesn’t like.
Specky’s found something he REALLY does.
Car Sniffer found a cheap car that makes no financial sense… so obviously we’re interested.
Not every car needs a 47-point inspection, a bloke in a suit and a finance calculator.
Sometimes it just needs to be a good car, honestly described, at the right money.
Sean’s Sales is the CarADHD classifieds corner — cars we know, cars we rate, and cars we’re happy to stick our name beside.
No auction-house waffle.
No “first to see will buy.”
No pretending a 93,000-mile BMW has only ever been driven to church.
Just real cars, proper descriptions and straight answers.
Some will be sensible.
Some will be modified.
Some will make absolutely no financial sense whatsoever.
That last category may appear quite regularly.
See something you fancy? Get in touch.
BUY THE CAR. BLAME SEAN LATER.

292BHP. A BIG BOOT. APPARENTLY THAT COUNTS AS A FAMILY CAR..
2020 BMW 330e M SPORT TOURING
292BHP.
£15,700 OVNO
2020 BMW 330e M Sport Touring finished in stunning Alpine White with Hyper Silver wheels.
93,000 miles • Automatic • 292bhp • MOT until January 2027 • ULEZ Free
Powered by the 2.0 B48 petrol plug-in hybrid setup with the 12kWh battery, giving you 292bhp in what is supposedly a sensible family estate.
Black leather heated seats • Black headliner • M Sport steering wheel • Virtual Cockpit • Reverse camera • Lowering springs • Full service history • Full V5
The car has been well looked after with no expense spared and has recently benefited from a new rear differential, new propshaft and new engine mounts. ( PROOF THERE TO SHOW)
Engine and gearbox are solid, the engine bay is properly clean and overall the car presents exceptionally well for its age and mileage.
It works brilliantly as a long-distance motorway cruiser, has plenty of room for the kids, dog and luggage — and then remembers it has 292bhp when you put your foot down.
Alpine White, Hyper Silver wheels and the slightly lowered stance finish it off perfectly. Sensible enough for the school run. Quick enough to make the school run considerably more interesting.
“Kids. Dog. Luggage. 292bhp. I’ve heard worse excuses for buying a car.”
